Third Week Cultural
This week has been very interesting because on Monday
it was the 14th of July here in France, they had a big parade in Champs Elisses
with all army, navy and armed forces from the country. While I was waiting for
the parade to star, there was an air show with some airplane from the air force
that were flying over in Champs Elisses also helicopters, it lasted for one
hour. I was talking to some friends that lives here, they told me that the
parade you can watched on national television, many of the people who were on
the parade were a lot of tourists, it is similar in my country in Mexico, I
don’t go to see the parade sometimes I watched on TV.

At the Parade
Great View
They had so much security
everywhere, police and military were checking, also the local police, many
people took pictures with the soldiers, just like home too many streets were
closed after the parade it was chaos trying to get from some place to another, we had to walk
some time so we could get to the subway and to our house.
At night there was a concert of classical music near
the Eiffel Tower, we got there early there were so much people, we waited for
more than 5 hours it was worth it, I don’t like classical music, but they
played a theme song for star wars my favorite saga of movies. Once again some
French people are no nice, polite, we have been saving our spot for long time,
they don’t ask if they can seat they take just seat like you weren’t there, I
was getting mad because their attitude. Also they were two Asians girls they
did the same thing, later that night I was recording the show it was beautiful,
I got into an argument with these French lady to told no to stand up. I really
got mad, we have a few words, and the same lady did the same with other two
people.
The show with the fireworks in the tower was one of
the most amazing things I have seen on my whole life, it was worth the wait.
Later that night all the French people were yelling Paris or something like,
when they started playing the song wow everyone got up, singing it was awesome
to hear the song and the people. The
show for the fireworks lasted for more than hour, also the tower in the background
was beautiful, and the illumination was something else. Here in Paris, I see
that they very proud people from their country, as I am from mine, there more
thousands of people around the park yesterday, after all was over some subway
stations were close and we walked for long a period of time, we got home close
to 2 a.m. It was worth it every moment, also we meet this guy from Mexico who
has been here for the last 7 years, he was great so nice thanks for all the
help, he is a friend from Omayra who has been awesome to us.
I am learning many things from this trip, one the
things that caught my attention all the Muslims that are in France, in Mexico
is not that common to see them on the streets. After time goes by I starting to
understand better French, I feel the same feeling like I was in the US, the
language can be a barrier, you can choose two paths have a narrow mind or
adjust to the place where you live. But it is difficult to learn a new language
but I guess if you put the time you can accomplish anything. After all I am
having a blast here in Paris.
Digital Landscape
The third week has been great so far with the class of
digital landscape, it has been intense since in the beginning of class, with
the new concepts like crowdsourcing it was a concept that I never had listen,
is the process of obtaining needed services, ideas, or content by soliciting
contributions from a large group of people, and especially from an online
community, rather than from traditional employees or suppliers. The knowledge I
am getting after 3 days has been great, a lot of tools that are easy to use,
also I makes your work look much better.
Last day of Class
Liz was a great teacher, had a lot of experience on
digital marketing, the know-how she has is amazing such a wonderful person to
talk and learn about this topic. The google apps like google drive, that I know
how to use it, but a learned new tricks. Using the blog, like using embedded code,
I thought it was difficult, but after I did a couple of exercises it was real
happy with the results. Also the apps for the mobile phones that Liz shared
with us, were great.
Working with emaze
On Wednesday we had a talk with Sebastien the
co-founder of the influencer marketing. It was a great experience to know how
the business works. The hotels pay a fixed fee every moment for being in
the site. The content is very important also the concept, of the marketplace to
attract customers. It helps hotels connect with social media influencers and
citizen journalists to develop their brand visibility. We also help influencers
to live unique experiences which generates unique content for their audiences,
and that fortify a new marketing conversion ecosystem.
The Tool Issuu
Thursday I work with emaze the templates have a great
design, in the presentation I talk about how to promote a small business in a
local area, talking to Liz the first thing look for influencer in the web, I found
this tool called topsy.com that you can search all the influencer on twitter in
any subject. After that I went into twitter to look for persons that are not
celebrities to follow them so I can get a better feedback and position, the key
is to find the right people who influence the web in your area. The blog has
been a great tool to learn how to use it, the concept of organical search is
much clear now.
This week has been a great experience.
Digital Marketing Class Exercise 3
Social Media Optimization
Social media optimization (SMO) was originally designed to drive traffic from social media sites such as bookmarking sites and social networks. However, SMO is now significantly more important and not simply because social networking has grown but because SMO also improves SEO performance. Good SMO will drive traffic from both direct social site referrals and from search engines.
Joshua Berg is one of the leading advocates of SMO. He has promoted a seven step model REALSMO, which is:
- Reputation - build your reputation as a reliable qualified source
- Engagement - encourage more engagement, sharing & reciprocate
- Authority - become a notable authority in your field of expertise
- Leadership - harness originality & creativity, be a Thought Leader
- Social - be social, find and engage sociable experts in your field
- Media - know your social media platforms to maximize influence
- Optimization - improve technical aspects to increase optimization

Geneve, Mont Blanc, New experiencies
The people in France loose their cool too fast, a couple of experiences that i have noticed like when i took a trip to Geneve the lady that was in charge was rude to us, we tried to explained to her in English or Spanish she never took the time to helps us. Also the driver it yells to us because the luggage in my country we are completely different, we are more polite and we try to understand even if we don´t speak your language. In the other hand the percentage of great experiences and meeting people is greater, like when I go to eat near school my French is bad, but the persons that take the orders take their time or speak English and Spanish.
Yesterday I was walking in Champs Elisses, I walked into a Mercedes Benz showroom what a great experience it was, I have not been in a store that sold clothes and many other things from the Mercedes brand. You find many different people from around the world it is awesome to see the streets crowed, you can listen to French, English, Spanish, Japanese, also to the Muslims are pretty good people, I talked to one of them yesterday it was a experience that taught a lot.
Mont Blanc
Because in the news they showed to be so radical,
and sometimes you can think about them as bad people, but every person is
different. He told he had a different idea of Mexicans as lazy, drugs cartels,
guns, this trip is helping me to learn more from another cultures. In the hostal
that I live many jews come to the restaurants, in Puebla where I am from you
hardly see or talk to jews. It is a cultural experience that I am learning
every day.
Going to Geneva last weekend was pretty cool, a city
that has more 150 banks that are private, going around the lake, also visiting
old town, with my classmates, I remember my sister telling that they sold the
ketchup packages, when I went to buy my food in McDonalds I ask for a couple of
packages they were 20 cents of euro I got mad, how this could be possible, also
it is more expensive than in France. After all I bought my mom her cow she
asked for since she knew I was going to the trip, also I visited Mont Blanc it
is a town for hicking in the mountain. It was ok for a few hours, but a would
spent more time in Geneva.

Second Week at School
The second week of classes it has been about how
France´s law is for the employee security, the process that a company needs to
do if they want to fire an employee. All
the legal process that has to be followed so an employee can get fire, how
expensive it is, also it caught my attention de cooling periods for both
parties.
How many hours they work a week 35, all the holidays
they have 11, also all the benefits they can get if they get fire two years of
their salary, if you run a small, medium or large company the process of
selection for a position it is very important, because it may cost a lot of
money if you don’t make the correct selection of the personal.
The disciplinary are divided on 4 degrees:
o
Unjustified
absences, refusal to follow order,
o
Repetition
of above
o
Theft,
revealing trade secrets, violation of internal policy
o
Damage
to property, downloading viruses, theft of intellectual property
Steve is a great teacher he is an American citizen
that has live in France for the last twelve years, the class is very simple for
his experience in the field of the Human Resources, always asking what other
themes we might want to explorer. In France the Unions have great power and
influence for the companies, that the companies don’t touch the employees that are
representatives of the union, also a few weeks ago the train union went on a
strike because the government wanted to change the laws for their contract
agreement. They have many benefits also they can retire at age 55 because the
labor they do, the new retirement age for France is 62. Steve shows us a
graphic that fewer employees are in an Union, it has been going down since the
WWII.
Also the structure in France for HR is very important
for the company, I didn’t have an idea how the structure and all the positions
for the big companies, it is cheaper for small companies to hire outsourcing to
do all that job.
HR
Structure in France
·
Strategic
·
Organization
and Administration
·
Development
·
HR
Consulting
Also I am impress by law every company no matter the
size has to invest on training:
·
Companies
legally required to spend money on training
·
Companies
are legally to produce a training plan
·
In
some cases, companies are legally requires to allow time off for employees´
professional development
But it is good in paper, but when you have so much
money an agency decides what programs are needed, this could be miss handle
because they might have favorites companies to do the training. After all, the
laws are for the protection of the employee, but what about the companies,
persons that decide to invest their money, some changes are needed to be made
in the French law.
HR Class with Steve
In Geneve
Today it was the last day of the class, the case of reading anonymous cv´s was great, I never guessed that they were girls. Also the information how a person even if it is fired can fired back, it went to last instance and got 115k even if they had proof of the bad job she did.
